Defense Research Engineering Network/Secret Defense Research Engineering Network (DREN/SDREN)

( SDREN Connection Approval Process )

There are four Major Shared Resource Centers (MSRCs) that currently operate large High Performance Computing (HPC) systems available to the entire Department of Defense (DoD) HPC community. Each MSRC has been designated to provide a complete HPC environment, with a full range of resources including hardware, software, data storage, archiving, visualization, training, and expertise in specific computational technology areas.

Distribution Centers (DCs) have been established to provide HPC capability to a specified local and remote portion of the HPC community. These DCs are typically modest-sized systems, implemented where there is a significant advantage to having a local HPC system because of a potential for advancing DoD applications using investments in HPC capabilities and resources.

Specifically, WCI has provided in-depth DREN/SDREN engineering support to the following:

  • Army Research Laboratory (ARL)
  • Engineering Research & Development Center (ERDC)
  • Army High Performance Computing Research Center (AHPCRC)
  • Space & Missile Defense Command (SMDC)
  • Aberdeen Test Center (ATC)
  • Redstone Technical Test Center (RTTC)
  • White Sands Missile Range (WSMR)
