High Performance Computing Modernization Program (HPCMP) Mission

The Department of Defense (DoD) High Performance Computing Modernization Program's (HPCMP) mission is to deliver world-class commercial, high-end, high performance computational capability to the DoD's science and technology (S&T) and test and evaluation (T&E) communities, facilitating the rapid application of advanced technology into superior warfighting capabilities.

HPMCP Defense Research Engineering Network (DREN)

There are four Major Shared Resource Centers (MSRCs) that currently operate large High Performance Computing (HPC) systems available to the entire DoD HPC community. Each MSRC has been designated to provide a complete HPC environment with a full range of resources, including hardware, software, data storage, archiving, visualization, training, and expertise in specific computational technology areas.

Distribution Centers (DCs) have been established to provide HPC capability to a specified local and remote portion of the HPC community. These DCs are typically modest-sized systems, implemented where there is a significant advantage to having a local HPC system because of a potential for advancing DoD applications using investments in HPC capabilities and resources.

The WCI Support Team

The WCI Support Team is comprised of a staff of highly skilled and educated Computer Scientists, Information Security Analysts, Programmers, and Network and System Administrators who respond quickly to deliver stable and innovative solutions to a complex array of challenges in support of the HPCMP Defense Research Engineering Network (DREN) and the Secret Defense Research Engineering Network (SDREN). Our staff provides detailed support in the following areas:

Network Design

( SDREN Connection Approval Process )

Our infrastructure design is easily scalable and takes into account best practices as well as the latest proven networking tools and devices. Projects that have been installed to date range from sites that had multiple class B and partial class A networks all the way down to the LAN level. Staff are equally as experienced supporting Wide Area Networks from partial T-1’s as they are supporting OC48 scale networks.

Network Installations

WCI employs a team of highly skilled and motivated engineers who carry numerous professional certifications and are trained to handle multiple simultaneous projects. Each of these specialists brings to the job a unique combination of experiences that contributes to the expertise necessary for a successful installation. Equipment installed by our engineers include such major manufacturers as Cisco, Netscreen, Nortel, Bay Networks, and 3Com.
